Spinifex Residential College

We are regularly looking for suitable staff who wish to relocate to Mount Isa, or currently reside within Mount Isa.

We require Student Support Workers who are willing to work on a 7 day roster that includes weekend and night shifts. Staff are required to work 7.6 hours per shift, with additional ADOs that then accumulate to cover school holidays. In effect, 

Student Support Workers have the ability to enjoy 13 weeks paid leave per annum. Education Queensland also provides subsidised housing in Mount Isa to staff who relocate from outside centres; subject to availability.

Boarding House Staff are an integral part of the team which cares for the development of the girls. Each must have a genuine desire to work with adolescent girls who are living in an environment away from their homes. The ability to assist/tutor the students with their homework during preparation time is essential. Experience in residential care would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Boarding Residents

Concordia Lutheran College is a Christian, coeducational day and boarding school of the Lutheran Church of Australia for years P-12 across four separate campuses.

The College requires Assistants within our boarding community (Years 7-12).

Boarding Assistants

The Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School (TACAPS) requires male and female Boarding Assistants to commence immediately.

Successful applicants will be required to work 12 hours each week during term time in boys and girls boarding houses. They will be provided with accommodation and meals in lieu of payment.

Boarding House Tutors (Residential)

Resident tutors are required to assist with the running of the Boarding House. Accommodation (all year) and meals will be provided in return for approximately 15 hours duty per week during term time only, including evenings and rostered weekends. Duties include supervision of students, assistance with weekend excursions and office duties. A current full driver’s licence is essential. 

Boarding House tutors must be aware that whilst they have scheduled times of duty, they are required to always be a presence in the house. This assists those on duty as well as ensuring a positive and interactive environment occurs at all times. Relationships and respect can only form when Boarding House Tutors actively engage themselves in the lives of girls on a daily basis. 

As Boarding House positions involve responsibility for the care of female boarders between the ages of 12 and 18, we are seeking female applicants only.

Kambala is seeking an enthusiastic and caring person who has the ability to provide administrative and supervisory assistance to our boarding house.  The candidate will work closely with the Head of Boarding and the Dean of Wellbeing in providing pastoral support to the girls within the Boarding House. The candidate will have strong communication skills and a demonstrated understanding of the needs of adolescent girls.

This position is full-time, but a part-time role may be considered. Accommodation within the Boarding House is provided if required. The position is primarily evening and weekend work. The candidate would be required to work part of every alternate weekend.

All candidates should have a current Senior First Aid Certificate, a WWCC and an Australian Driver’s licence. 

Boarding Supervisors are required:

•    To support the aims and guiding principles of the School and Boarding House. A staff Handbook will be provided and Duty of Care Certification available for completion.

•    To know the School’s legal obligations in relation to Duty of Care, Child Protection, Code of Conduct and Work Health and Safety regulations and to support the policies and practices that are in place.

•    To report to the Head of Boarding or Dean of Wellbeing with regard to the welfare, supervision, safety and health of the boarders.

•    To maintain and nurture practices within the Boarding House by taking initiatives to create and seize opportunities to get to know the boarders as individuals. 

•    To nurture the boarders’ emotional well-being by intervening to support, listen and report any concerns to the Head of Boarding. To maintain firm and caring control through consistent and fair practices of discipline that are conducive to a home-like environment and are also in keeping with the ethos of the School.

•    To work positively and constructively with other staff members in order to be part of an effective team. Resident supervisors operate within a roster that requires them to be on duty for 42 hours per week (full-time), including part of every alternate weekend, be on overnight supervision one night per week and to be available for relief/cover work per term (paid).

•    To maintain a sound study environment for boarders and assist in encouraging boarders to maximise their learning potential.

•    To be reliable and punctual in reporting for duty at the designated times.

•    To present yourself as a good role model in terms of dress sense and grooming, hygiene and language.

•    To be positive to the concept of professional development and appraisal as a means of striving for best practice.
